The Chicago White Sox promoted prized outfield prospect Braden Montgomery from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.
Montgomery, 23, was acquired in the December 2024 deal that sent left-hander Garrett Crochet to Boston.
MLB Pipeline ranks Montgomery as the No. 2 prospect in the White Sox's system and No. 21 among all major league prospects.
The switch-hitter is batting .314/.422/.548 with 10 homers and 41 RBIs in 56 games between Double-A Birmingham and Charlotte this season.
The Red Sox drafted Montgomery in the first round (12th overall) out of Texas A&M in 2024.
Montgomery could make his MLB debut Tuesday night as Chicago opens a three-game home series against the Atlanta Braves.
The White Sox also recalled left-hander Joe Rock from Charlotte, optioned outfielder Rikuu Nishida and right-hander David Sandlin to Charlotte, and transferred outfielder Austin Hays to the 60-day injured list in corresponding moves.
