Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Andre Blake will sit out this weekend's game against the host Columbus Crew with a fracture in his right hand, coach Jim Curtin announced.
"With Andre, unfortunately, there was a fracture in the hand that will rule him out certainly for (Sunday's) match," Curtin said. "The hope is, if things go well, there is a possibility that it is not a season-ending injury."
Blake, the 2016 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, sustained the injury during the Union's 2-1 victory over the Chicago Fire on Wednesday. The Jamaican international was replaced by Joe Bendik in the 90th minute.
Blake, 29, sports a 13-3-5 record with eight shutouts in 21 games this season. He owns a 59-54-32 mark with 38 shutouts in 145 career appearances -- all starts -- with the Union dating back to the 2014 season.
