Dallas Sun (IANS) Saturday 4th February, 2012

German Chancellor Angela Merkel Saturday concluded her three-day visit to China. It was her fifth official visit to the country, Global Times reports.

During her trip, Merkel met Chinese President Hu Jintao and top legislator Wu Bangguo in Beijing. She also held talks with Prime Minister Wen Jiabao.

She visited Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, where she and Prime Minister Wen attended a trade seminar for Chinese and German businessmen. They also visited the Chinese branch of Herrenknecht AG, a leading German tunnel-drilling machine maker.

China is the first country Merkel visited this year outside Europe.
